A heroic baby rhino stood in between poachers and her mother, and did all she could to save her mother’s life.
Poachers attacked J’aime and her mother. She tried to save her mom by putting her small body in between them, like a shield, but it wasn’t enough. Her mother was killed. The poachers chopped off J’aime’s horns, during the attack, and stabbed J’aime from behind. What monsters!

J’aime was all alone, stranded, desperately needing help. Thankfully, rescuers found her and called The Rhino Orphanage (TRO) in South Africa to come pick her up. The orphanage gave J’aime her beautiful name, meaning “I Love” in French to honor the recent attack on the rhino poached for its horns in the zoo near Paris.
The caregivers at TRO were afraid that J’aime wouldn’t take to the bottle, knowing how hard it is for a baby to be away from its mother. But J’aime loves it! She even cries for her bottle when she gets hungry… the cutest little cry in the world!

Jaime Traynor, a volunteer at TRO told The Dodo “Whenever it’s close to milk time, she whines and talks to let her carers know she’s hungry.”
J’aime loves to eat, but her favorite thing to do is CUDDLE! She gives her caretakers so much love. JUST LOOK AT HER! What a sweetie!

Although J’aime’s story is a tragic one, she is now in good hands, safe from harm. The little hero, an inspiration to all the people she meets.

Until next time….hug your animals. Tell them you love them. If you don’t have a pet, adopt one. Make adoption your first option when seeking a pet. Adopt. Don’t shop. Can’t adopt. Please consider fostering one. The animal will have the taste of home and the shelter will cover the expenses. Can’t foster? Make a donation or volunteer at your local shelter. Please, don’t hunt. Unless you’re starving down in a ditch somewhere, there is no logical reason to do so. Whatever you do, however you do it, please be a voice for the animals large and small. All it takes is one to make a difference, good or bad.
